I made this sweet car seat canopy that doubles as a blanket for a sweet baby girl. As a mommy of two now, I always look for ways to tackle the overflowing diaper bag. Instead of stuffing an extra blanket in the bag, I decided to give this canopy removable straps so it could be used as a baby blanket on the fly. The pink minky material is super soft and perfect for cuddling, too.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:

  • To make the blanket – Cut the light grey fabric and minky fabric to 30 inches (W) x 42 inches (L)
  • Sandwich both fabrics together with front sides facing, pin along edges.
  • Sew along the edge along the entire perimeter leaving a 2-inch opening.
  • Turn the blanket right side out by pulling it thru the opening.
  • Add a top stitch to the entire perimeter of the blanket. This will stitch the opening closed.
  • To make the straps – Cut 4 rectangular pieces of the novelty fabric 2 inches (W) x 5 inches (L)
  • Apply the same method you used to make the blanket to make both straps.
  • Sew velcro to straps to secure around the handle of car seat.
  • Sew button holes in the center of straps.
  • Sew buttons in the center of the blanket to attach the straps.
